In Colombia it is the common name of a legume tree ornamental of red flowers. It is also known as flamboyant or red acacia. Its scientific name is Delonix regia and belongs to the family Fabaceae. Acacia's abundance of Girardot, in this beautiful port of the Magdalena River, made it called "The City of Acacias".
